Accessibility statement

Last updated 7 November 2026

RideInstead should be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or reduced motion. This statement covers the website rideinstead.eu and the pages of the RideInstead extension.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, which is the basis of the European standard EN 301 549. We have not had an independent audit yet, so we do not claim full conformance.

What we do

  • Pages use proper headings, landmarks and a “Skip to content” link.
  • Everything can be used with a keyboard, and focus is visible.
  • Text and controls are designed to keep readable contrast, in light and dark mode that follows your device setting.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Animations can be switched off with the motion button, and we respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting.
  • The pages work at small screen sizes and when text is enlarged.
  • The website is available in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish.

Known limitations

  • The Ko-fi box and the Tree-Nation widgets are made by those companies and load only if you accept them. We cannot control their accessibility.
  • The legal pages (privacy policy, terms of service and this statement) are in English only.
  • Train times, prices and CO₂ values come from several sources and may be shown in a compact format that we are still improving for screen readers.

Tell us about a problem

If something is hard to use, write to hello@rideinstead.eu or use the contact form. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and, if you like, the assistive technology you use. We aim to answer within 14 days and to fix problems as soon as we can. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact your national accessibility or consumer authority (in Italy, AgID).
